Wellbeing projects

Art can make a change!

We believe art can connect, reflect, encourage and inspire. Through art-making with materials such as textiles, paper, clay, and movement, Participants are invited to slow down, reflect, and reconnect with themselves in a safe and supportive space. Each session offers not only creative exploration but also pathways to emotional balance, peace, and inner strength.

Unfolding Stories 2025- Soft sculpture project. Tanio.Bangarw

Over the summer of 2025, I’ve had the privilege of working with an incredible group of adults through a series of workshops. Together, we experimented with the possibilities of paper, explored tactile storytelling, and transformed paper into sculpture as a way to gently express thoughts, feelings, and experiences—especially for those who might find it hard to share their thoughts through words alone.

The breathing space honours the creativity, courage, and care that each participant brought into the room. Many of us may face challenges daily. Yet, through creating and exploring together,  these different creative sessions, they’ve found new ways to express and connect.

Clay project 2025- identity, Troedyrhiw School, Camel Chapel

Lio hosted a clay workshop with Year 6 pupils at Troedyrhiw School. The theme was identity.

Lio demonstrated how to create a handprint in clay, and each student then crafted their own piece to showcase something personal about themselves.

The project provided the children with space to explore their individuality and express themselves creatively. It was hands-on, fun, and a chance for everyone to think about what makes them unique.

Christmas Card making- Ukrainian Wellbeing project at Remenham Parish Hall

In December 2022 Christmas, Lio ran a craft corner for Ukrainian children in the UK during a festive meal. The kids used potato stamps to make colourful Christmas cards and decorations.

They also wrote messages for their families and friends, sharing love and hope at this special time of year.

It was a wonderful reminder that art can comfort, inspire, and bring people together, even far from home.

Youth summer Craft and Clay Workshop 2023 - Normad Youth & Community project, Henley on Thames

In summer 2022, Lio ran a craft and clay workshop for young people at Nomad in Henley-on-Thames. Four teenagers joined in, creating sculptures, painting, and experimenting with new creative ideas.

The workshop was all about having fun, relaxing, and being creative together. It gave the group space to express themselves, support one another, and feel proud of what they made.

Art can really help with wellbeing – it lifts moods, builds confidence, and inspires new ways of thinking.

A big thank you to Nomad and to the young people who brought so much energy and imagination!
